Learning outcomes
The main objective of this first Mathematics for Business Engineering course is to consolidate students' command of the mathematical foundations required for subsequent mathematics courses, as well as for their studies in science (physics and chemistry), computer science, economics and management. For many years, mathematics has played an increasingly important role in management science. This first course aims to review and/or introduce various fundamental mathematical concepts, results and techniques, and to demonstrate their relevance, particularly in science and management.
Beyond the course content, students will be trained in logical reasoning, argumentation and/or the rigorous proof of results, as well as in expressing their knowledge orally and in writing. They will learn to move from an intuitive understanding of concepts to their formal expression, which is essential for a certain degree of abstraction or generalisation. A chapter on logic will provide specific content for this meta-learning.
